Adult Day Program Coordinator/Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is currently hiring a Connections Program Specialist.
Schedule: 9-5
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Implements and manages the therapeutic recreational needs of the residents participating in the Connections Program, to include physical, social, emotional, vocational, spiritual and cognitive needs, enabling them to function at their highest possible level. The Specialist is responsible for facilitating a sustainable program, at the direction of the Connections Program Coordinator, which attracts participants from multiple levels of care and potential outside clients from the community.
- Implements and manages the therapeutic recreational needs of the residents participating in the Connections Program.
- Responsible for delivering therapeutic activities that meet the individual needs of participants as a part of their overall plan of care.
- Facilitating a sustainable program that attracts participants from multiple levels of care that may be experiencing physical and/or cognitive impairment, and potential outside clients from the community.
- Implements special projects to address the needs of residents.
- At the direction of the Connections Program Coordinator, lead large and small group activities and one-on-one with individuals, making any necessary changes to assure successful results for all.
- Provides documentation for programs & services. Provides pertinent input regarding changes and modifications in the activity plan of care that will assist in overall program and services improvements.
- Documents participation or regression consistent with regulatory compliance in via electronic medical record.
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively; verbally and in writing to complete specific tasks related to the Connections Programs.
- Interacts with residents in a manner compliant with their rights at all times.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Healthcare related degree.
- Experience in a health care or long term care setting and working with seniors.
- One or more years of experience working with older individuals with dementia preferred.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office and Google Apps software programs.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Willingness to grow and develop professionally through continuing education and training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to assist residents in wheelchairs, walkers.
- Ability to assist residents boarding and getting off the bus
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to set up for activities and moving/rearranging rooms furniture as necessary.
