JOB SUMMARY
The Cataloging and Systems Librarian fosters critical thinking and lifelong learning skills by providing access to resources that promote success.&nbsp; Primary responsibilities ensure that both physical and digital library resources are accessible to individuals through the selection and purchase of materials, creation and curation of metadata, and maintenance of library-related systems to ensure optimal functionality.
The Cataloging and Systems Librarian also participates in the development of library policies and procedures, represents the department in both campus committees and inter-departmental meetings, assists individuals at the reference and circulation desk, and ensures smooth day-to-day library operations in the absence of the Library Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Library Systems Maintenance (25%)
<ul>
<li>Serve as the Alma and Primo Certified Administrator: configuring systems to meet Cleveland State’s needs, implementing Alma extensions, using Ex Libris Developer Network tools and APIs to design and maintain front-end (Primo) customizations, maximizing workflows to increase efficiency, monitoring system performance, and coordinating system upgrades.</li>
<li>Provide quality control oversight and perform maintenance activities for LibApps and other library software, suggest and coordinate system software and hardware upgrades, and train staff on system updates and upgrades.</li>
<li>Diagnose and correct issues with database and/or library catalog access, and patch online resources that are inaccessible or malfunctioning.</li>
<li>Coordinate with the IT department and vendors to create seamless authorizations for on- and off-site access and address larger-scale access issues.</li>
</ul>

Cataloging (20%)
<ul>
<li>Perform original and copy cataloging of library materials in all formats and maintain batch processing of metadata for electronic resources.</li>
<li>Ensure overall compliance with national and local library standards (MARC, RDA, AACR2, NACO, DCRM, LCSH, and LCC) for cataloging and classification practices, in addition to any other appropriate cataloging or metadata standards for resource description.</li>
<li>Proofread published catalog records to ensure adherence to standard practices and edit/update existing catalog records to improve access.</li>
</ul>
Reference Assistance (15%)
<ul>
<li>Assist students, faculty, staff, and community patrons in person, by phone, by email, and via LibChat with finding physical and digital items in the online catalog and databases, assessing the academic integrity of sources, and building proper citations in various citation styles.</li>
<li>Provide course support in library research skills as requested by faculty, including leading class workshops, creating video tutorials, and developing online research guides and handouts.</li>
</ul>
Collection Development (15%)
<ul>
<li>Create policies and procedures governing the print collection.</li>
<li>Assist in the selection and purchase of books and periodicals.</li>
<li>Coordinate the deselection and stacks maintenance processes including running usage reports, maintaining records on lost and missing items, soliciting faculty input, and training and supervising student workers.</li>
</ul>
Circulation Desk Assistance (15%)
<ul>
<li>Provide scheduled circulation desk assistance including checking library materials in and out, registering new patrons, collecting fines, renewing and reserving materials, recording usage data, and creating campus ID cards.</li>
</ul>
Government Documents Management (5%)
<ul>
<li>Receive and process government documents according to depository guidelines.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of government document holdings.</li>
<li>Create research guides and tutorials on accessing government documents and assist patrons seeking government information.</li>
<li>Adhere to federal depository library regulations and reporting requirements and stay updated on changes to government document policies and procedures.</li>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICIATIONS

<li>Minimum of a Master’s Degree in:&nbsp; Library and Information Science (MLIS), Library and Information Studies (MLIS), Information Science (MSIS), Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.</li>
<li>A minimum of three (3) years’ experience is required in one or more of the following areas:&nbsp; cataloging, library systems maintenance, circulation, or reference.&nbsp;</li>
<li>At least one year of cataloging and/or library systems maintenance experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Academic library experience is preferred.</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of current national cataloging/metadata content and structural standards.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and experience with a cloud-based library management system; Alma and Primo Administration Certification preferred.</li>

Recruitment Coordination (30%)

<li>Plan, oversee and implement effective marketing and recruitment strategies and events to maximize new student enrollment.</li>
<li>Coordinates recruitment activities targeting all target groups, such as, general public, traditional, non-traditional, parent, middle school, and assists the veteran’s coordinator.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Serves as the point of contact for service area high schools for dual enrollment and traditional students.</li>

CLEVELAND STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE is accepting applications for the following position: Adjunct Faculty Pool - Political Science
Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in the class. The major emphasis for instructors is on teaching and evaluating students in the course. Classes are taught in a variety of formats and at several different locations, as well as online. Instructors also communicate with students between classes and are responsible for several administrative duties such as reporting on academic activity and submitting final grades.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines.
2. Beginning and ending all classes as scheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
3. Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.&nbsp;
4. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
5. Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.&nbsp;
6. Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.&nbsp;
7. Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications:&nbsp;
A Master’s degree in Political Science from a regionally accredited institution or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of related qualifying fields. Three years teaching experience preferred.&nbsp; Experience with alternative delivery instructional modes recommended – hybrid, online, interactive, etc.

Adjunct Faculty Pool - Workforce Development&nbsp;
This pool of positions provides industry specific instruction through Workforce Development at Cleveland State Community College. The department is growing and expanding quickly. This posting is designed to identify, evaluate, and build a high quality pool of instructors that have experience in technical positions and that can instruct our clients to expand the knowledge, skills, and abilities of their employees. The adjunct instructor will need to be somewhat flexible as this is customized training with customized scheduling. This is a great way to earn extra money and spread your knowledge while helping local community industries. Retired industry leaders and past military personnel with technical training and the ability to teach are strongly encouraged to apply! 1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines.
2. Beginning and ending all classes as scheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
3. Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.&nbsp;
4. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
5. Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.&nbsp;
6. Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.&nbsp;
7. Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications:&nbsp;Master’s degree or higher in a qualifying field or Master's degree or higher with 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the qualifying fields including Health, Physical Education, Public Health, Wellness, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or related field. Also needs to hold BLS certification with American Heart Association in order to teach Safety Education/First Aid/CPR.

Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer. Adjunct faculty pay rates are based upon educational qualifications.&nbsp; The rates per credit hour for each educational level are as follows:
Master's degree $550
Master's plus 30 semester hours (ABD) $575
Doctorate $600
