Knowledge of psychiatric practices in a variety of clinical, teaching, and research environments, as well as a demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.

Board eligible/board certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Psychiatric Association

Current licensure, or eligibility to obtain licensure, to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky.



Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking a residency-trained, board certified/board eligible Assistant Professor. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in clinical care as well as teaching, administration, and professional development. Preferred experience includes previous experience in providing psychiatric services to adults, as well as experience in teaching medical students, residents, and other health professionals.

This position will be instrumental to providing ambulatory and inpatient psychiatric services to adults. This position will primarily provide ambulatory psychiatric care and will participate in on-call coverage of our Behavioral Health Unit and related inpatient services.

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine strives to provide the highest level of patient care, innovative educational programs, active research in mental illness and advocacy throughout the state of Kentucky and beyond. These pursuits have helped the department win the American College of Psychiatrists’ Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education not once, but twice.

Our Adult Psychiatry and Behavioral Health programs offer an array of specialized programs including: Adult Affective Disorders Clinic, Psychopharmacology, Anxiety Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Clinic and Supportive Medication Assisted Recovery and Treatment Program (SMART). In addition to our inpatient behavioral health program, we offer outpatient services at our Fountain Court location in Lexington, KY.
