The AMS has three offices – our headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island; Mathematical Reviews in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and the Office of Government Relations in Washington, DC.


Provides administrative assistance to Senior Acquisition Editors. 


  • Provides administrative support to the Publisher, in his role to acquire book projects, as well as to other Senior Acquisition Editors.
  • Assists with the preparation of project sheets and pricing models for the Book Project Review and Book Pricing meetings.
  • Prepares and issues book contracts
  • Is responsible for the pre-production process for certain books acquired by the Publisher and other Senior Acquisition Editors. 
  • Provides staff support for the History of Mathematics Editorial Committee, and to other book Editorial Committee as needed
  • Prepares budget expenses for the History of Mathematics Editorial as well as the number of titles and number of pages to be published in this series each year. 
  • Performs various duties related to book publication, including database entry and maintenance of book pages.
  • Handles routine correspondence. 
  • Requests information and compiles data for the journal backlog report.
  • Perform other or similar related duties as requested or assigned 


  • Works with other members of the Editorial Division, as well as with members of Electronic Prepress, Creative Services, Sales and Marketing, and Fiscal Departments as needed.

  • Must be organized, responsible, and able to handle multiple priorities with minimum supervision. 
  • Excellent oral, written, and technical skills ARE ESSENTIAL.  
  • At least five years of related experience is required. 
  • Working knowledge of an electronic office, Windows, Microsoft Office and related databases required.
