Job Summary
The Director of Advising will oversee the college's academic advising programs and manage a team of advisors (Success Coaches), collaborate with faculty and staff, and develop strategies to enhance student success and retention. This individual will also be responsible for ensuring students receive comprehensive academic guidance to support their educational goals and academic progress.




Job Duties:
Supervise, train and evaluate professional academic advisors and support staff; develop and implement strategies for advising services to ensure alignment with the college's mission, goals and student success objectives; foster a collaborative environment for advisors to share best practices and work together to support student success. Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of academic advising strategies, including proactive advising, early intervention programs and retention initiatives; ensure that advising services are responsive to the needs of diverse student populations, including first-generation, transfer and non-traditional students; collaborate with faculty and staff to create and maintain accurate degree plans, transfer pathways and advising tools. Partner with academic departments, student services, and other campus units to ensure seamless coordination of student services; represent the college at relevant professional conferences, workshops and advisory meetings related to advising and student success; participate in campus-wide committees and initiatives focused on student engagement, success and retention. Ensure that advising services comply with all federal, state and institutional regulations and policies; and stay current with acadmic policies, program requirements and relevant higher education trends to provide informed guidance to students and staff.




Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 2 - 4 years of experience in a related field.&nbsp;

Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a Testing Services Coordinator to be responsible for managing all aspects of the college’s testing services, including overseeing both internal and external assessments for students. This position ensures that all testing is conducted in a secure, fair, and accessible manner, in compliance with institutional policies and relevant laws. The Testing Services Coordinator will support students by facilitating entrance exams, placement assessments, and certification tests. Position is primarily based in Prestonsburg, but will require travel to alternate campus locations.




Job Duties:
<ul>
<li>Coordinate Testing Schedules: Develop and manage the schedule for all testing services, including placement exams, entrance exams (e.g., TEAS, Accuplacer), certification exams, re-testing, and other assessments required by the college or external organizations.</li>
<li>Oversee Test Administration: Supervise the administration of tests, ensuring compliance with testing protocols, regulations, and policies. Ensure that testing environments are secure, and that test-takers are provided with the necessary instructions, materials, and accommodations.</li>
<li>Maintain Test Security: ensure the security of all testing materials, including storing and handling tests according to appropriate security guidelines. Prevent cheating and other academic dishonesty by monitoring test sessions effectively.</li>
<li>Assist Students with Testing Requirements: provide guidance to students regarding testing for admissions, course placement, certification, and special programs. Explain the testing process, test preparation resources, and how test results are used in academic planning.</li>

Purchasing – Supervises purchasing; assists with purchasing and business procedure trainings as needed; prepare reports; provides oversight of utility, lease, custodial, fleet, and contract payments and reconciliation; etc.

Job Summary
Big Sandy Community &amp; Technical College is seeking a dedicated and passionate Adjunct Instructor to teach our Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) classes. This role is ideal for professionals who are enthusiastic about shaping the next generation of healthcare providers and are committed to maintaining high standards in nursing education.




Job Duties:
<ul>
<li>Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program, ensuring students meet the requirements set by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.</li>
<li>Develop lesson plans, assessments, and hands-on clinical experiences that align with the state curriculum and certification standards.</li>
<li>Provide mentorship and support to students, helping them to succeed academically and professionally.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with state regulations and college policies related to the CNA program.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of student progress and meet administrative deadlines. 
</li>

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution. A bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred. Licensure: Must hold a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky. Experience: A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required, with at least one year in a long-term care facility. Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a passion for teaching and mentoring students. Proficiency in using technology for instruction and record-keeping is a plus. Vaccinations: TB Skin Test or TB blood test and Hepatitis B vaccine.&nbsp;

Job Summary
Big Sandy Community and Technical College invites qualified candidates to apply for the part-time position of Adjunct Geography Instructor. Part-time faculty may be needed to teach for selected day, evening, weekend, and on-line classes at any of our campus locations. Part-time instructors are paid $515.00 per college credit hour. Instructor hired will be asked to teach one or more of the following classes: GEO 152 Regional Geography of the World.




Job Duties:
• Plans and carries out instruction, instructional activities, and prepares learning materials. • Provides instruction to students in the subject area. • Prepares lesson plans and maintains records and reports on student attainment, attendance/activity and progress. • Utilizes approved online course template and syllabus format. 




Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in field. • Credential must be granted from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. • A passion for teaching undergraduate students and an ability to work with a team &nbsp; &nbsp;effectively is essential to success in this position. &nbsp;




Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with online teaching is preferred. • Teaching and Blackboard experience preferred.

Job Summary
The part-time Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Instructor will be responsible for Class-A CDL range and road instruction, monitoring and documenting student progress and attendance. This is a part-time position used to fill vacancies as needed due to increased enrollment, workload, or scheduling. 




Job Duties:
<ul>
<li>Provides CDL students with quality instruction on-the-range and over-the-road and may provide tutoring for students, as needed.</li>
<li>Provide top-notch instruction so the students are well education and able to pass their written CDL-A permit test, as well as their pre-trip, skills and road tests.</li>
<li>Continually evaluate student performance and document their progress through attendance forms and checklists.</li>
<li>While monitoring student progress, identify any gaps and provide additional help as needed.</li>
<li>Emphasize safety concepts, principles, and procedures.</li>
<li>Help ensure that the trucks are safe, clean, and well-maintained.</li>
</ul>

• High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of over the road experience. • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A. &nbsp;
