Job Purpose:&nbsp; A full-time faculty is responsible for delivering instruction in various formats (on-line, in person, video-conferencing, or any combination of methods) in the discipline(s) for which she/he has been employed. Instruction may take place at any of the college’s campuses, at a clinical partner facility, or at a designated temporary location. Faculty also provide academic advising and facilitate student success. Technology tools are routinely used to communicate with and support students.
Faculty participate in divisional and institutional activities related to the college’s mission, engage with communities of interest, and promote college programs.
Additionally, Veterinary Technology Faculty collaborate with the program director to ensure efficient and effective delivery of career-entry education addition to their faculty responsibilities.
Veterinary Technology Faculty Job Purpose: A full-time faculty position with responsibility for assisting the Director and delivering instruction in the Veterinary Technology Program
All positions are onsite-in-person unless specifically noted.
This is a 12-month term position, located on the Columbia Campus.

Essential Functions:
<ol>
<li>Must be able to deliver instruction and evaluate student learning in all instructional delivery formats offered by the specific department at the college and at any of its teaching locations. Formats include but are not limited to in-person, online, hybrid, live streaming, and clinical.</li>
<li>Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are expected to teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold in person and virtual office hours as defined in College Policy.</li>
<li>Maintain an environment conducive to learning.</li>
<li>Be responsible for course and, when appropriate, laboratory preparation.</li>
<li>Actively participate in curriculum and program development, revision and evaluation.</li>
<li>Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success.</li>
<li>Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities.</li>
<li>Actively participate on divisional and institutional committees.</li>
<li>Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution.</li>
<li>Contribute appropriately to pursuit and achievement of program, division, and institutional mission and strategy.</li>

Additional Veterinary Technology Essential Functions:

<li>Participate in inventory control and purchasing for equipment and supplies.</li>
<li>Contribute to programmatic accreditation through continuous data collection/review and analysis of effectiveness.</li>
<li>Collaborate to recruit, maintain, and monitor community partnerships</li>
</ol>

<li>Actively participate in institutional and, as appropriate, community activities that support the institution's mission.</li>
<li>Support and follow Columbia State's, TBR and other applicable policies and guidelines.</li>

Job Specifications
Education, Training and Experience Required: 
<ol>
<li>Graduate of an AVMA CVTEA or CVMA-accredited program.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or related field with three years in-field experience.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Consideration may be given to an Associate's degree in veterinary technology or related field with more than three years in-field experience.</li>
<li>SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENTS: Tennessee Veterinary Medical Technician license or eligibility to be licensed in Tennessee</li>
</ol>
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:
The ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and in the language in which the course is taught; the knowledge and/or experience to instruct using a variety of instructional delivery modes; the ability to relate to a diverse faculty, staff and student population; the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and community members; the ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
Working Conditions:
Faculty members are expected to be available for day and evening classes and for assignments at any of the institution's centers or sites.&nbsp; Normal sitting and movement in a classroom and the ability to manipulate and move audiovisual equipment both in the classroom and from one location to another.

<li>Manual dexterity sufficient to perform laboratory procedures.</li>
<li>Maintain positive relationships and contracts with clinical affiliates.</li>

<li>Ability to manipulate, hold, and move equipment both in the classroom/laboratory and from one location to another.</li>
<li>Ability to travel to clinical sites.</li>
<li>Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.</li>
<li>Qualified applicants should be able to reach, lift moderate weights, manipulate and operate equipment necessary for veterinary medical care.</li>

Job Summary
Part time faculty are hired as needed on a semester-to-semester basis and typically teach up to nine credit hours during the semester. Columbia State offers classes at five campuses: Columbia Campus, Williamson Campus, Lawrenceburg Campus, Lewisburg Campus, and Clifton Campus. Columbia State also offers classes at several off-campus locations and clinical sites.
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in a Medical Laboratory or Clinical Laboratory Science or related field</li>
</ul>
OR
<ul>
<li>Hold an AAS degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Technology AND either hold TN license as a Medical Technologist or have a minimum of one year experience in field.</li>

Salary is $560 per credit hour. Workload adjustments will be made for faculty teaching classes where the number of contact hours exceeds the number of credit hours. Additionally, a travel stipend may be negotiated at time of hire for faculty traveling more than 80 miles each week to teach their classes. For part-time faculty who continue to work at Columbia State, salary is based on collegiate level teaching experience documented during the first semester of teaching.
Part-Time Faculty Duties and Responsibilities
The part-time faculty member reports directly to the dean for assignments/duties and is responsible for:
<ul>
<li>Preparing for courses as assigned and adhering to departmental course syllabi and course minimum student learning outcomes.</li>
<li>Beginning and ending all classes as schedules.</li>
<li>Organizing, assigning, and supervising learning activities of students in his/her classes.</li>
<li>Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and for informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Maintaining accurate records of student attendance/participating and grades.</li>
<li>Reading Columbia State email and responding to student questions via email in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, student enrollment</li>
