Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites nominations and applications for the position of CHAIR of Pharmaceutical Sciences (at Associate or Full Professor rank). The successful candidate will be a talented and trusted regional/national leader, who will cultivate and embrace excellence in research, teaching, and service in a predominantly Mexican-American community. This year-round position represents a unique opportunity for an outstanding individual to continue to strategically grow the pharmaceutical sciences team to drive innovative research in diverse disciplines while providing continued support for the integrated curriculum in a relatively new School of Pharmacy at UTEP. Appointment at the Associate Professor/Professor level with the opportunity for administrative advancement in the Dean's office is commensurate with a history of excellence in scholarship, teaching, and leadership. The appointment date is negotiable with the potential to initiate an appointment in the Spring of 2025. RESPONSIBILITIES: This Chair will be expected to: (1) establish and maintain a nationally recognized, federally-funded research program in pharmaceutical sciences; (2) recruit and retain pharmaceutical sciences researchers from varied disciplines; (3) work with UTEP administration to advocate for continued growth and success in pharmaceutical sciences; (4) contribute to and continuously improve the foundational pharmaceutical sciences curriculum using innovative teaching models; (5) work with the School of Pharmacy to maintain accreditation status; (6) collaborate with well-established and funded graduate programs in biomedical sciences, basic sciences, and/or other health-related sciences to support graduate student success; (7) provide leadership and mentoring for the Pharmaceutical Sciences Team including faculty development, budget management, and other administrative functions; (8) engage a culturally diverse Doctor of Pharmacy student body in research experiences; and (9) maintain a university and national record of service. Job Requirements: Candidates must have a doctoral degree in a pharmaceutical science (for example: pharmaceutics, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics), or in a related field, from an accredited institution with documented evidence of: <ul><li>Success in collaborative scholarship, external funding, and publications;</li><li>Experience with curricular development and innovations in teaching in the pharmaceutical sciences at an institution of higher education;</li><li>Leadership and mentoring within/across pharmaceutical sciences and practice faculty;</li><li>Ability to work effectively as a team with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds;</li><li>Involvement of students in research and/or publication opportunities; and</li><li>Service in their discipline/profession on the national stage and at their university </li></ul> Additional Information: The initial salary is competitive, based on qualifications and experience, and comes with excellent fringe benefits. Assistant Professor- Structural Biochemist The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Science at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in biochemistry pertaining to Structural Biology (cryo-EM). The successful candidate will be expected to bring a new dimension to the Department while complementing its existing strengths in both the interdisciplinary and traditional fields. The candidate should possess expertise in cryo-EM for elucidating the structure and function of biological macromolecular assemblies at atomic level resolution. This includes experience in protein purification, sample application to grids, hands on experience with an electron microscope, and extensive experience in data processing for cryo-EM reconstruction as demonstrated with first author publications indicating expertise in the application of cryo-EM methodology. A successful candidate is expected to actively engage at a departmental level through curricular development activities, lead the expansion of the program through collaborations with other faculty, and attract external funding at levels needed to build and sustain his/her research program. Job Requirements: An earned doctorate biochemistry, structural biology or related field, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and problem-based research as well as publications in relevant areas. Postdoctoral experience and a strong record of high-impact publications are highly preferred. Evidence of existing/prior funding will be given strong consideration. Applicants with potential to attract external funding, and the ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level are highly desired. Assistant Professor- Structural Biochemist

Assistant/Associate Professor in Social Work The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work. This is a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The successful applicant will be a licensed social worker (LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-S) with an academic doctorate (preferably PhD) in social work or a related field. Job responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity (e.g., grant writing, manuscript submissions, and conference presentations), and service to the program, college, university, community, and profession. The anticipated appointment date is fall 2025. The ideal candidate will excel at incorporating active-learning strategies in teaching and have a highly productive research agenda or the potential to develop one. The successful candidate would have an interest in the cultural aspects of the border, embracing the opportunities to work with underserved groups and to collaborate on initiatives regarding border health and health disparities. This position represents an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to contribute to a program with established bachelor's (BSW), and master's (MSW) programs in social work, as well as an online MSW program beginning Fall 2025. Social work faculty participate as chairs and committee members in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Ph.D. program, directing doctoral dissertations. Multiple scholarly/research opportunities are available in community and clinical settings on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Teaching excellence and current scholarship/research will determine appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Job Requirements: 1)PhD in Social Work, DSW, or earned doctorate in a closely related field (all-but-dissertation doctoral candidates who are close to completion by June 2025 will be considered); 2) an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program; 3) a minimum of three years of post-MSW experience as a practicing social worker; 4) demonstrated excellence in teaching and research in the areas of substance use disorders and/or mental health; 5) demonstrated commitment to scholarship through a record of scholarly publications, capacity for obtaining funded research, and teaching effectiveness; 6) experience working directly with people from population demographics reflective of our region; 7) Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an LMSW or LCSW; and 8) the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred candidates (1) have experience in a Hispanic Serving Institution; 2) have knowledge of and experience with CSWE accreditation guidelines; 3) are bilingual in English and Spanish; 4) have a record of service in graduate and doctoral education; and 5) understand and have a commitment to community and globally engaged scholarship. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR QUALIFICATIONS In addition to the required qualifications delineated above, minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor include excellence in teaching, a history of grant funding and quality publications in refereed academic journals, and a clear contribution to the discipline.
