Job Summary Job Title: Extension Staff Assistant – Leslie County Location: Hyden, KY As an Extension Staff Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Extension office. General duties include office management, customer service, record keeping and newsletters, and program support while conducting yourself in a professional manner. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, office receptionist, word processing, Quickbooks, filing, maintaining data bases &amp; mailing lists, developing and maintaining websites, designing newsletters, and providing support for county agents and program assistants. You will report to an Area Director and there will be a high level of interaction with the general public. State law may require a national and state criminal background check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a background check of child abuse and neglect records as a condition of employment or involvement in this program. This position will be located in the Department of Family and Community Medicine in Hindman, Kentucky. Hindman is located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Our faculty will practice primary care, non-surgical obstetrics and facilitate a rotation site for third- and fourth-year medical students from four different medical schools. The local hospital, Appalachian Regional Healthcare is a regional hospital and is the site for our inpatient service, which consists of 358 acute-care beds. Our faculty and residents also provide services at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center, a 120-bed long-term care facility for veterans. These activities, plus departmental leadership in Rural and Community Health, a practice-based research network, and departmental leadership in the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, afford opportunities for faculty to participate in a variety of innovative programs.
