o Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician
o Have a good moral character as determined by a thorough
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;background investigation conducted by the employing agency; and
o Be free of all apparent mental disorders as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders, Third Edition (DSM-III) of the American Psychiatric Association. Applicants must be certified as meeting these criteria by a qualified professional in the psychiatric or psychological fields

Preferred Qualifications:&nbsp; 
Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited institution
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a POST Certified Law Enforcement officer. Possess and maintain current Tennessee POST certification as a law enforcement officer.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Patrol campus areas</li>
<li>Direct, monitor, and control pedestrian and vehicle traffic</li>
<li>Enforce traffic and parking violations as necessary</li>
<li>Investigate suspected crimes, reports findings, and arrest suspected individuals</li>
<li>Investigate motor vehicle accidents involving persons or property, reports probable cause of accidents, and pursues appropriate course of action</li>
<li>Prepare reports, case files, and provides testimony in court or legal proceedings</li>
<li>Operate and maintain all assigned law enforcement equipment</li>
<li>Maintain POST certification by successfully completing all POST mandated required Annual In-Service training requirements</li>
<li>Meet local area and institutional requirements related to bonding, arrest authority and lethal/less-lethal weapons use</li>
<li>Performs other related duties as assigned</li>
</ul>

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of Tennessee State laws, Federal Education Laws, Privacy Laws and College policies</li>
<li>Knowledge of the court system and presentation of evidence in court proceedings</li>
<li>Knowledge of effective methods of investigations.</li>
<li>Knowledge of geographic areas of the campus</li>
<li>Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions</li>
<li>Ability to communicate strongly and effectively within a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community</li>
<li>Ability to resolve conflict using verbal, non-physical communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and to determine proper course of action</li>
<li>Ability to ascertain facts by personal contact, observation, and the examination of records</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain an effective and trusted working relationship with students, the public and other employees</li>
<li>Ability to explain and interpret pertinent provisions of laws, policies, and regulations</li>
<li>Ability to grasp, lift, carry, wear or deploy required law enforcement equipment of 80 lbs. Dexterity sufficient to crawl, crouch, stoop, bend, stretch, stand, walk, run, and to perform physical aspects of law enforcement. Strength sufficient to pull, lift, and carry unconscious individuals from vehicles or other police, fire, or emergency scenes, as necessary and to defend from aggression and physical attacks.</li>
