The faculty engage in avariety of research projects ranging from examining social justice issues in social studies curriculum, access to education for fosterchildren, exploring multi-sensory environments for early childhood learning, value-creation in education, and engaging prospectiveteachers in scientific modeling and empathetic design.Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development, the Chair will be a dynamic and accomplishedleader who will offer outstanding governance in departmental administrative, financial, and programmatic components. The Chair willfurther develop a climate for continued growth of the educational, research, and service missions of the department. Additional dutieswill include advocating for the department faculty, staff, and students; supporting and working with the Associate Dean in theaccreditation process; and managing and allocating resources.This position is an administrative faculty position with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This is a tenured position.Responsibilities• Oversees all departmental activities, consults with faculty in outlining and promoting internal departmental policies;ensures compliance with departmental, college, university, and Board of Regents (BOR) policies.• Assumes responsibility for the quality of the instruction, research, and service programs conducted in the departmentand presents an annual report to the Dean of the College outlining both targeted and accomplished teaching,research, and service activities of the department.• Provides mentoring and support to promote career advancement of department faculty, conducts annualassessments of progress toward identified goals, and assists in identifying resources to foster continued growth anddevelopment.• Recruits part time faculty to support instruction.• Serves as a liaison to other departments and offices of the university, as well as represents the department in allofficial communications with senior leaders, students, and alumni.• Oversees the assignment of teaching, schedules, and other duties within the department and maintains an equitableand mutually agreeable distribution of assignments.• In accordance with University and Board of Regents policies, participates in the recommendation of appointment andreappointment, promotion and tenure, and dismissal or non-renewal of members of the faculty.• Administers the annual budget in consultation with the administrative team and business office staff. The Director provides vision, leadership, strategic direction and support to each South University Campus leading to the enrollment of new military and veteran students. Works directly with each Campus Director/DOAAO, Outreach Director and Admissions Team to exceed budgeted campus enrollment of military and veteran new students. Supports and models the South University Mission, Vision and Core Values. KEY JOB ELEMENTS:1. Recruitment:<ul><li>Partner with each campuses Admissions team and others to learn the recruitment process and ensure goals and strategies align with the overall recruitment targets.</li><li>Develop and implement strategies to reach out to military veterans and active-duty service members and their families.</li><li>Organize and participate in recruitment events, job fairs, and informational sessions.</li></ul>2. Liaison with Military and Veteran Organizations:<ul><li>Build and maintain relationships with military and veteran organizations in all campus communities to facilitate collaboration and referral of prospective students.</li><li>Stay updated on military benefits and educational programs to provide accurate information.</li></ul>3. Outreach:<ul><li>Develop workshops and processes tailored to the needs of veteran students, such as transition assistance, academic advising, and career planning.</li><li>Collaborate with community partners to expand South University’s engagement with military and veteran-friendly organizations.</li></ul>4. JOB ELEMENTS:<ul><li>Clinical Teaching: Under the direction of the Department Chair, develop a clinical practice site at an affiliated institution or community pharmacy for the experiential education of SOP students.</li><li>DidacticTeaching: Contribute to the didactic teaching load of the Department, including the development or maintenance of course materials.
