Provide clerical support for the Upward Bound Program. Reports directly to the Director of TRIO Programs.&nbsp;TRIO Programs are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, and Student Support Services.&nbsp; In general, these programs provide academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, financial guidance, and other supports necessary for education access and retention.&nbsp;
Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Prepare travel requests and travel expense claims. Interpret and abide by DSCC travel and purchasing policies.</li>

<li>Plan and arrange travel events for the academic year and summer program. This includes busing/transportation, hotel/venue reservations, event ticket purchases, meal arrangements, etc.</li>
<li>Assist in educational and cultural field trips by driving students when necessary. Serve as student chaperone for week-long summer field trip and monthly cultural trips.</li>
<li>Responsible for managing and documenting event records such as trip/event plans, agendas, ticket purchases, reservation confirmations, busing/transportation, and mapping.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assist Upward Bound staff with maintaining the electronic student database and paper files as required for the Department of Education’s Annual Performance Report.</li>
<li>Assist the Director and staff in researching and gathering data required for the completion of grant proposals and Annual Performance Report for Upward Bound.</li>
<li>Answer incoming phone calls and direct the calls to the appropriate personnel.</li>

Working Conditions:

The American Job Centers (AJC) aid our customers in achieving self-sufficient, sustainable employment on a career path toward continued growth opportunities. We are currently in a partnership with the University of Memphis to assist in the implementation of the Growing Relational and Occupational Wealth in West TN Households (GROWWTH) grant’s accelerated workforce readiness training program. The GROWWTH Career Advisor provides individualized case management services to assist the customer in meeting the goals set forth in the GROWWTH Family Plan. Teach 30 hours (TLE) per academic year in Culinary Arts (or other closely related field as necessary).

Initial assignment may be at one of our teaching locations, but the official work station assignment may change each semester. The successful applicant will become certified and fully use the course management system (eLearn) for all classes. The applicant will also attend required meetings, report attendance, early alert notifications, and final grades prior to the established deadline, and will communicate curriculum and personnel needs or changes as appropriate to their assigned coordinator/dean. This position reports to the Chair of Humanities/Social Sciences and the Dean of Arts, Sciences, &amp; Technologies.
