Job Summary
This is a part-time, Adjunct Faculty position in the Business and Legal Studies Department. THIS POSTING IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF AN OPEN POSITION. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Prepares and delivers instruction on topics for the Culinary Arts courses within the Hospitality Management program.</li>
<li>Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; and keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.</li>
<li>Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.</li>
<li>Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention; and assists students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.</li>
<li>Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.</li>
<li>Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.</li>
<li>Participates in departmental and college committees; and provides outreach service to the community.</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assign by Department Head/Dean.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management or Dietetics, or Associate's degree in Culinary Arts with a minimum of 5 years work experience in the culinary field. 
</li>
<li>Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. 
</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Minimum two (2) years teaching experience in higher education or one (1) year teaching experience and three (3) years employment in the field. 
</li>
<li>American Culinary Federation membership and certification</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning; experience interacting successfully with an ever-growing student population. 
</li>
<li>Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. 
</li>
<li>Ability to integrate technology into course delivery. 
</li>
<li>Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. 
</li>
<li>Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the six locations. 
</li>

Additional Job Functions
<ul>
<li>This position will primarily be responsible for instruction for dual-enrollment culinary arts courses offered at various high schools across Shelby County. As such, the position will require travel across Shelby County to each high school location.</li>
</ul>

Title: Adjunct Instructor – Hospitality

Position Summary: To provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.
Department: Business &amp; Computer Technology
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi. 2. Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned. 3. Submitting requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids. 4. Evaluating the academic progress of students. 5. Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. 6. Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required. 7. Scheduling two office hours. For extenuating circumstances in which office hours cannot be scheduled, the adjunct faculty member must submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor. Office hours are not paid during the summer session.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university with at least 18 graduate hours in hospitality, travel, tourism, event planning, hotel or restaurant management, or related field.

Title: Adjunct Instructor – Hospitality Management (Pool)
POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in an equitable environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground, online and hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences. Utilize the College’s learning management system to provide course materials to students. Submit updated department syllabus prior to the first day of class. Regularly check College email account and department mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours, except on weekends. Complete all required reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, student progress reports, grade submissions, and administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the deadlines. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar. Comply with all College and TBR policies and guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in Hospitality Management or Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality Management
Three years’ related industry experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS College level teaching experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of and/or experience with a variety of instructional delivery modes, including synchronous and asynchronous online teaching. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Rate of Pay: $650.00 - $740.00 per credit hour
