Job Title: Instructor of Medical Laboratory Technology and Education Coordinator

Campus Location: Walters State Community College - Claiborne County Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose:&nbsp;The overall purpose of the Education Coordinator is to provide lectures and training opportunities for Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program students in compliance with the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NACCLS) and the TN Medical Laboratory Board standards. They serve as the liaison between the program administration and other institutions involved in the clinical experience. The Education Coordinator will participate in teaching courses, evaluating student achievement, developing curriculum, developing policies and procedures, and assessing program outcomes.
Essential Job Functions:
<ul>
<li>Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the catalog description and the approved course syllabus; Provide ongoing feedback, evaluate student performance, and maintain accurate student/course records. Travel to multiple clinical facilities/campuses as assigned. Maintain student-instructor ratio. Stay abreast of current developments in the teaching discipline. Engage in ongoing formal training to maintain and enhance professional, instructional, and administrative competencies, ensuring completion of the minimum required hours of annual professional development for continued NAACLS accreditation.</li>
<li>Responsible for establishing and maintaining clinical contracts. Assuring that all written contracts and/or letters of agreements between the educational institution and clinical site are signed and placements are established before assigning students. Maintaining student records as required by clinical facilities and accreditation standards. Maintain student-instructor ratio. Identify and develop new sites that best align with the Program's mission and philosophy. Facilitate ongoing communication with clinical sites and ensure that both sites and students complete evaluations.</li>
<li>Participate in program evaluation, assessment of program goals, and monitor outcomes as determined by the advisory board, faculty, and student feedback in conjunction with standards set forth by accreditation. Implement quality improvements as indicated. Assist in the documentation of program goals, feedback, outcomes, and evaluation.</li>
<li>Advise and mentor students about academic and career goals. Participate in the MLT program admission process. Participate in curricular and co-curricular activities within the college, as well as recruit potential Health Program students. Participate in graduation exercises and serve on college/departmental committees.</li>
<li>Assist the Program Director in preparing and maintaining the program budget, as well as in selecting and purchasing educational materials and equipment to meet program needs.</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assigned.</li>

Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science with ASCP-BOC generalist certification from a regionally accredited institution. 
</li>
<li>Minimum of two to four years of recent clinical experience. 
</li>
<li>The position requires knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science accreditation procedures and certification procedures. 
</li>
<li>Have the ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with others. 
</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Expertise in curriculum development is recommended. 
</li>
<li>Medical laboratory supervisory position within the health care industry. 
</li>

The workspace is well-lit and may involve exposure to periodic noise and interruptions. There is potential exposure to infectious diseases, and infrequent contact with bodily fluids may occur.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):

<li>A clinical coordinator is required to conduct regular visits to the hospital and clinical facilities, where exposure to various illnesses, infectious agents, or health conditions present in those treatment environments is prevalent.</li>

<li>Teach COMM 2025 Fundamentals of Communication Courses offered primarily for conventional in-person classes with potential for some Hybrid or Desktop Video Courses through Microsoft Teams, Zoom or other technology.</li>

      Adjunct of Communications
    

Job Title: Adjunct Instructor of Engineering Technology
Campus Location:&nbsp;Sevier Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose:&nbsp;Expected to teach Associate of Applied Science- level Engineering Technology classes and laboratories. This position’s primary area of responsibility will be the Engineering Systems Technology degree, and requires experience in at least two of the following four primary area: Mechanical systems, Computer aided drafting, Machining and inspection, and Operations management. Also, will perform minor repairs and periodic maintenance on equipment assigned to the Engineering Technology Programs.
Essential Job Functions:
<ul>
<li>Provide instruction and training in the Engineering Systems Technology program and its disciplines. Instruction will cover, but is not limited to, mechanical systems, computer aided design, and manual and CNC machining and operations management.</li>
<li>Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and processes relative to engineering technology.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Share responsibility for day-to-day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms, labs, and equipment.&nbsp;</li>

Required Qualifications:

<li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology or other degree title related to the discipline.

Consideration will also be given to graduates of B.S. programs in the fields of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology when accompanied by a strong demonstration of experience in disciplines previously mentioned through application and/or professional certifications. 
</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in the area of mechanical systems. 
</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks and /or REVIT. 
</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in manual and and CNC machining. 
</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in operations management and quality assurance. 
</li>
<li>Teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level or documented experience as a professional industrial trainer specifically in electrical and electronic applications. 
</li>
<li>Must be willing to support evening and distance education offerings as needed to reach students in varying demographics. 
</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Preferential consideration will also be given to holders of graduate degrees in fields of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology, but only if the B.S. requirements are also met. 
</li>
<li>Disciplines in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial and Applied Engineering will receive the highest consideration. 
</li>
<li>Experience in course delivery through hybrid and online technologies will be considered a plus.
