Professor to build the Mining Engineering ProgramThe College of Engineering (CoEN) and the Department of Metallurgical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering (MMBME) at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invite applications for a faculty position at an advanced rank to begin in the fall of 2025. Candidates may be considered at the Associate or Full Professor rank based on qualifications and experience.With the growth and importance of the mining economy in Texas and nationally, the University of Texas Board of Regents committed $20M to restart the Mining Engineering at UTEP. The Mining Engineering program builds on the rich legacy of mining at UTEP and in the region. Through community action, the university was formed in 1914 as the State School for Mines and Metallurgy before joining the University of Texas System in 1919 as the Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy. Mining Engineering continued to be offered until 1966. The restart of the program comes with UT Regents support as Texas has developed the largest non-fuel mineral production economy in the US (USGS: Mineral Commodity Summary 2024). The program will be the only Mining Engineering program in Texas and will be relaunched with strong support from industrial partners who wish to build a world-class and modern Mining Engineering program.The department welcomes applications from candidates in all areas of mining and associated fields. Associate/Full Professor in Immunology/InflammationThe Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position in immunology, with an emphasis in systemic chronic inflammation and aging. Addressing health disparities and inequities that contribute to chronic disease development is a critical national priority, especially in Hispanic persons who suffer from extensive health disparities and often are characterized by earlier and worse chronic disease progression. UTEP is a focal point for education and biomedical research for Hispanics living on the US-Mexico border and has been intentional in supporting Hispanic Health Disparities research initiatives. UTEP is poised to become a national leader in this critical area of biomedical research by establishing an advanced health database. The successful candidate should have a strong track record of extramural funding, with significant experience with mentoring leadership, directorship, and participation in large center grant programs. Open Rank in Occupational TherapyThe University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. The new UTEP Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) curriculum has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and granted Preaccreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). This is a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The successful applicant will be a licensed occupational therapist with an academic doctorate (preferably PhD) in occupational therapy or a related field. Job responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity (e.g., grant writing, manuscript submissions, and conference presentations), and service to the program, college, university, community, and profession. The anticipated appointment date is fall 2025. The ideal candidate will excel at incorporating active-learning strategies in teaching and have a highly productive research agenda or the potential to develop one.
