JOB OBJECTIVES
The Student Support Specialist (Part-time) is a grant-funded position.&nbsp; The selected candidate will assist Adult Education students with educational and career needs.&nbsp; This position is dedicated to clerical activities outlined with the Title II of WIOA.&nbsp;

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>Support the Adult Education Office with general clerical duties (mailouts, restock supplies, etc.)</li>
<li>Manage electronic filing system</li>
<li>Collaborate with the Career Coaches, assisting with student needs, registration, intake and orientation-related activities for potential and current students.</li>
<li>Willingness to learn and support the department as it relates to new tasks and/or responsibilities.</li>
<li>Assist with scheduling, proctoring, and scoring state-required tests (CASAS; TABE; OPT; HISET).</li>
<li>Maintain class, staff, and event schedules.</li>
</ul>
CRITICAL SKILLS / EXPERTISE / EXPERIENCE

<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attentive to detail, flexible, and manage stressful situations.</li>
<li>Possess strong interpersonal communication skills and maintain focus with job responsibilities.</li>

The main campus of Cleveland State Community College is the primary workplace.&nbsp; However, travel will be required throughout the college’s five county service area.

Job Summary:
Work performed in general security work.&nbsp; The Security staff is responsible for assisting campus police in providing safety and security to the campus community.&nbsp;
Job Duties and Responsibilities:&nbsp; 
Patrols areas on the campus by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle to prevent and report crime.&nbsp;
Provide security for special events as required.
May testify in court and legal proceedings.
Maintains and utilizes issued equipment.
Keeps records and prepares reports for supervisors.
Maintain student, faculty, and staff safety at all times.&nbsp;
Check campus buildings for safety and maintenance issues.
Check campus rooms and buildings for safety and property.
Keep duty and activity log.
Assist in community programs.
Performs other related duties as required, including related clerical tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.&nbsp; Be at least 18 years of age.&nbsp; Pass background check.&nbsp; Have valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines.
2. Beginning and ending all classes as scheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
3. Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.&nbsp;
4. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
5. Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.&nbsp;
6. Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.&nbsp;
7. Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications:&nbsp;
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR an Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in a qualifying field and demonstrated competencies such as documentation of professional certification (national, regional or state), professional employment in related field, or teaching excellence in related field.&nbsp;&nbsp;
For limited number of non-transfer courses, a Bachelor's degree in a qualifying field with two or more of the following may be considered: documentation of professional certification (national, regional or state), documentation of professional employment, documentation of teaching excellence, documentation of research and publication, documentation of relevant additional coursework beyond Bachelor's degree equivalent to 18 graduate semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU's, military, vendor training, etc.

Also needs to hold BLS certification with American Heart Association in order to teach Safety Education/First Aid/CPR.
