Research Assistant Professors in Advanced Manufacturing, AI, and Materials Design (3 Positions)The Aerospace Center at UTEP invites applications for three Research Assistant Professor positions in Advanced Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, and Materials Design under the STAR (Space Technologies and AI-Driven Research) Frontier initiative. These positions are housed within the Aerospace Center. Successful candidates will advance and specialize in advanced manufacturing, contributing to the development of innovative fabrication techniques and connecting current projects across Centers and Departments to increase synergy and impact to the region and nation. The positions will concentrate on computational simulations and AI-driven tools, including materials discovery, design, property prediction, process optimization, and advanced simulations, to uncover novel materials tailored for space applications.Key Responsibilities• Conduct research in materials, manufacturing, and AI integration.• Develop and lead federal and industry proposals (NSF, DOE, DoD, NASA, and others).• Publish impactful interdisciplinary research.• Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers.• Collaborate with all departments and colleges as appropriate.Research Focus Areas• AI/ML-Guided Materials Design and Discovery.• Advanced Manufacturing and Process Optimization.• Space and Harsh-Environment Materials• Multifunctional and Bioinspired Systems.Job Requirements:Minimum: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, or related field; expertise in additive manufacturing, materials design, or AI/ML; strong publication record.Additional Information:The initial salary is competitive, based on qualifications and experience, and comes with excellent fringe benefits.
