Job Summary

Note: This position will primarily serve Pike, Martin,
Johnson, Floyd, and Lawrence counties. Candidates living
in or near one of these counties are preferred.
Position Objective: To serve as a community liaison and
provide tobacco use prevention services to youth, families,
and community members across Eastern Kentucky.
Position Description: Supervised by the #iCANendthetrend
Program Coordinator, the Pallottine Community Health Educator
works in schools and communities to establish community
partnerships and facilitate tobacco use prevention services
based on the #iCANendthetrend framework, which include:
1. Prevention Education
2. Information Dissemination
3. Youth Empowerment
4. Professional Development
5. Community Involvement
Position Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic
organizations, and other youth and community organizations to
provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use,
including e-cigarettes.
• Implement peer-to-peer prevention program to provide
information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including
e-cigarettes.
• Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for
parents, teachers, staff or administrators in target area school
and community sites when requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to
meet program objectives.
NOTE: No prior knowledge on the topic of tobacco use or public
health is needed. The program will provide comprehensive
training.
NOTE: The position may be used to fulfill internship
requirements or practicum hours if needed.




Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Excellent verbal and written skills; intermediate skills in Excel,
PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Outlook; skills in editing
documents; interpersonal skills

Preferred Education/Experience

• Pre-employment criminal background check, employment
background check, as required by school districts.
• Evidence-based curriculum training must be obtained within 1
month of employment, and prior to in-school or related program
delivery. This will be provided through the position.
