Open Rank Professor of Practice with the Patti and Paul Yetter Center for LawThe Provost Office at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a non-tenure track Open Rank Professor of Practice with the Patti and Paul Yetter Center for Law. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the Center's Law School Preparation Institute (LSPI) summer program, law school admissions advising, and community and professional engagement. Additional teaching is required during the fall and spring semesters.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Teaching• Teach two courses during the LSPI College Summer Program.• Teach two courses in the College of Liberal Arts during each fall and spring semester.• This may evolve to teaching LSPI courses instead during the fall and spring semester.Law School Admissions Advising• Provide comprehensive, individualized advising on law school applications for LSPI and non-LSPI students, alumni, and community members.• Review and assist in crafting personal and explanatory statements that support students' narratives and elevate their law school candidacy.• Guide students in preparing competitive application packages, including resume support and school selection strategy.• Analyze admissions offers to advise students on cost-benefit decisions and long-term professional implications.Community and Professional Engagement• Oversee LSPI internships including partnership management and data reporting.• Present information sessions on law school admissions and LSPI services.• Represent LSPI at various campus, community, and national events including workshops and panel discussions.Other duties may be assigned.Job Requirements:Required Qualifications• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.• Extensive knowledge of and experience in law school admissions processes and criteria.• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially in legal and academic contexts.• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.• Experience in mentoring, advising, or legal education.Preferred Qualifications• Teaching experience at the university level.• Familiarity with legal career pathways and labor markets.Additional Information:SalaryCommensurate with experience.In keeping with its access, excellence, and impact mission, The University of Texas at El Paso is committed to an open, diverse, and inclusive learning and working environment that honors the talents, respects the differences, and nurtures the growth and development of all.
