Shift

Flexible Scheduling between 7 am – Midnight throughout the week and on weekends. Building hours are subject to change with academic holidays and breaks.

Job Summary

A Student Service Representative of the Gatton Student Center ( GSC ) Student Hospitality Team is responsible for staffing the Information Desk, assisting various departments under Auxiliary Services, directing guests and clients to nearby locations (on and off campus), providing information to patrons, setting up events, and assisting with other event needs for clients using the meeting spaces in the building. The position would report to the student Building Manager on staff and Student Program Specialist.

Some duties include, but not limited to:
Customer Service
  • Furnish customers and clients with outstanding service by remaining alert and responsive to their requests. Anticipate patron’s needs and respond with enthusiasm and urgency.
  • Provide information about the campus, its academic and non-academic functions, and the community in general.
  • Manage all components of the desk including Lost and Found, printing service, and directions. Always ensure cleanliness of work area.
  • Transfer front desk telephone calls to appropriate University Departments.
  • Interact professionally and warmly with clients via phone calls or walk-ins.
  • Respond calmly, effectively, and with urgency to reasonable on-the-fly client and Student Program Specialist requests for set-up alterations or building management needs.
  • Practice situational awareness when conducting building laps and managing the front desk.


Operations
  • Perform hospitality needs for events within the Gatton Student Center when instructed by Building Manager or Student Program Specialist
  • Always abiding by state fire code regulations when faced with space constraint issues focusing on the Student Centers goal around accessibility.
  • Assist with equipment facility upkeep and report maintenance issues, including door functions, digital signage, technology malfunctions, and building maintenance (examples include spills, overflows, signs, flooring, and damage to GSC property).
  • Regularly perform routine Building Laps and tasks posted on 7Points.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations to ensure health and safety of occupants in facility. Some examples include accidents and injuries and inclement weathe.
  • Report detailed information to patrons, building managers and Student Program Specialist according to training handbook instructions when these situations arise.
  • Assist Building Managers with additional event and facility management tasks when called upon.
