The University of Texas at Austin: College of Pharmacy: Division of Health Outcomes

Location: Austin, TX

Open Date: Sep 09, 2024

Description

The Division of Health Outcomes in the College of Pharmacy is dedicated to improving the health of society. Our mission is to: 1) be a leader in addressing population and individual patient health through innovative, high-quality research and education, serving our community by responding to critical health care issues that impact patients’ daily lives, and 2) provide state-of-the art education and training to the next generation of students so that they become leaders in the field of health outcomes and education locally and globally. To help advance this mission, we are seeking a distinguished applicant to fill one tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or higher. To ensure success and longevity, competitive start-up packages are provided.

Primary responsibilities include teaching in the graduate and professional pharmacy programs, mentoring graduate students, and performing innovative research and scholarship. Candidates at the rank of Associate Professor or higher are expected to have: clear evidence of research accomplishments, established and sustained external funding and a track-record of research collaboration, and teaching proficiency that is consistent with expectations at a research-intensive university. Preference will be given to candidates with federal funding. The successful candidate will be expected to compete for independent and collaborative funding from public and private sources in support of their research program and collaborate with faculty across campus, including the Dell Medical School, School of Nursing, Steve Hicks School of Social Work, and School of Public Health. Additionally, the college has affiliations with health systems, public and private payers, as well as safety net organizations which provide further opportunities for collaborations.

The College of Pharmacy is consistently ranked as one of the top five colleges of pharmacy in the country and the Health Outcomes division has 5 tenured and tenure-track research faculty, 2 research scientists, 3 postdoctoral fellows, and approximately 30 Master's and PhD graduate students and health outcomes fellows. The division houses the Texas Center for Health Outcomes Research and Education (TxCORE), where a diverse group of researchers partner with stakeholders in pharmaceutical industry, managed care, clinical research organizations, pharmacy organizations and associations and health care institutions to address medication and health-related issues.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Pharm.D. degree (or other health care-related degree) and a Ph.D. degree or comparable experience with a strong research focus in health outcomes, public health, or a related health care field. Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: design and implementation of prospective and/or intervention studies, use of mixed methods, and/or patient engagement in research design.

Application Instructions

Interested persons should include a letter of interest; a detailed curriculum vitae; a statement of research (including current and planned funding); a statement of teaching philosophy and interests; and the names and e-mail addresses of at least five references.
