Provide analysis, planning, organization, communication and management necessary to support all aspects of the design, implementation and on-going support of Research Administration applications. Manages a professional staff. Participates in management discussions and planning at the department level. Acts on behalf of Director in their absence.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Business process analysis, system design, implementation and on-going support of departmental applications.
  • Management of projects and system support including supervision of staff.
  • Ensuring data integrity and security of these systems.
  • Participation in management discussions and planning at the department level to ensure that adequate resources are available to meet business requirements.
  • Direct the application development and administration activities and manage the resources of a team within the Departmental Applications technology team.
  • Oversee system modification and major system analysis and design including data base system design and technical support.
  • Disciplined project management methodology including documentation and implementation standards required to meet project milestones.
  • Recruitment and development of professional staff and ongoing evaluation. Direct the development and delivery of training that will enhance the technology, proficiency and system understanding of a team within the applications technology team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree.
  • Experience working in a University environment.
  • Ability to adjust to abrupt changes in priorities and strategy.
  • Exercises good judgment and common sense in determining priorities.
  • Strong business analysis/project management skills and experience.
  • Strong technology background that aligns with the business objectives of departments within the University.
  • Possesses excellent people skills when working with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent time management, resource planning and project management skills required for seeing projects through to completion.
  • Possesses strong business analysis skills and excellent technical background to allow understanding and employment of technology solutions in business functions.
  • Flexible and willing to work extended hours as necessary and recognize the need to do so.
  • Strong technical aptitude with major technology platforms.
  • Experience with design, creation and implementation of databases.
  • Experience with design, programming and implementation of business solutions.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish objectives, prepare action plans and communicate such plans clearly and effectively to all staff levels (management, technical and clerical).
  • Strong business analysis/project management skills and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, plus six years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background with business information systems at a management level preferably in an academic environment.

Salary Range

$94,100.00 - $165,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
