The Area Coordinator (AC) provides year-round leadership and direction for one specified area of campus. The AC supervises and maintains a comprehensive inclusive residential living program for students, developmental programs for professional staff, and may assist with summer conference guests. Area Coordinators are entry-level professionals with advanced skills in hall management, mail administration, and staff supervision, with direct supervision of graduate level staff and front-line student staff in various positions, and indirect supervision of up to 25 Resident Assistants. ACs serve in a 24/7 on-call rotation responding to professional staff inquiries and major campus crises, chair a standing departmental committee, and become competent in a computer software used by UHS, among other responsibilities.

The target salary offer for this position is $3,750.00, the full pay range for this position is $45,000.00. Final salary offer will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

Examples of Duties

· Responsible for the administration and management of a residence hall complex housing between 500 and 2,000 students during the academic year and assisting with guest/camp housing during the Summer Conference season.
· Provide leadership/supervision, recruit, select, train, supervise and evaluate part-time Graduate Student Assistants, and up to 50 student staff in various roles, such as: overnight desk staff, mailroom staff, senior/resident assistants, community assistants, and day desk staff, holding regular meetings to discuss issues, as well as monitoring community wellbeing.
· Recruit, select, and train full-time staff.
· Coordinate goals/goal setting for Residence Life committees in conjunction with the Assistant Director team and develop a strategic plan by which to achieve these goals.
· Recruit diverse candidates, through mentoring, during student staff selection processes, and Hall Director recruitment; assist in coordinating the recruitment, selection, and training of professional, graduate, and student staff in various positions.
· Promote the department's area team through regular contact with Campus Dining Services, maintenance and custodial personnel, desk management personnel, and other administrative staff within the department.
· Provide training and development for professional and paraprofessional staff members, particularly in the areas of community building, emergency procedures/crisis management, diversity, and policy implementation.
· Manage area programming in coordination with any Program Coordinators and Hall Directors of their assigned area; facilitates an awareness and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of their area and responsive needs for undergrad and graduate students, and families, as appropriate. Due to the nature of the student population, this role will work with minor children, parents/guardians, non/traditional students, and faculty/staff.
· Adjudicate conduct cases, utilize building access and camera systems to ensure the security of on-campus living facilities, as needed. · Advise/oversee student leadership programs, including student leadership recruitment, leadership development, and programming budget oversight. Some travel, for state/regional/national conferences, may be available.
· Oversee other administrative tasks; serve as a co-chair on Residence Life-wide committee, as needed.
· Facilitate regularly scheduled business meetings; serve as the primary resource person for Evergreen Terrace and Elizabeth Street Apartments for students and staff; assist with 24-hour on call/duty coverage for residence halls.
